In times of calm, and especially during periods of conflict, Child Care and Family Resources, Elder Care and Life Cycle Resources and Work/Life Support understands the range of concerns young children and their families have concerning violence, their personal safety and well being and the usefulness of teaching and modeling peaceful resolutions.
We extend our appreciation to Tucson-Pima Public Library, for allowing our office to share the following narrative and resources with the University of Arizona community. This can be beneficial information for preschool families, other relatives and/or friends having caregiving responsibilities for young children and professionals in child development (center-based staff, in-home providers and family child care home providers) who care for children in their early years.
Peace
This bibliography list picture books that promote peace building. Some of the books were selected because they promote finding solutions to problems in a creative, non-violent way. Others were chosen for their unusual viewpoint or philosophical stance. Most importantly, all of the books reflect traits of a peaceful society. By reading these books to children, one can emphasize making choices that encourage harmony. These books are intended to be read to preschool children, but they may also be appreciated by older children and adults.
