July is UV Safety MonthIt's summertime; the sun is bright and there is a great danger the sun can harm the eyes. Everyone is at risk for eye damage that can lead to vision loss from exposure to the ultraviolet rays of the sun. So, use this month's tools to spread the message of sun, fun and safety to your community. Sunglasses, More Than a Fashion Statement We all know the importance of using sunscreen to protect our skin from the sun's harmful rays, but what about protection for our eyes? July is UV Safety Month, and, Eye M.D.s across the nation are urging Americans to protect their eyes and their children's eyes by wearing sunglasses and wide-brimmed hats. For more information, go to the American Academy of Opthalmology's website: International Group B Strep Awareness MonthJuly has been set aside to provide information about Group B strep and its devastating effects on babies at the time of delivery. The CDC says that GBS is a leading infectious killer of newborns in the USA. The Group B strep (GBS) test and common antibiotics could save your baby's life!
