The University of Arizona is the recipient of the 2004 Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award, presented annually but the Arizona Psychological Association (AzPA). According to its press release, “The American Psychological Association and state associations created the award to honor companies and organizations for innovative programs and policies that support psychologically healthy work environments. This award distinguishes learning employers who see the critical link between employee health, well-being, productivity, and the financial bottom line.”

“The University of Arizona met all the best practices criteria for selection based upon the integrated [employee and student] programs and resources of UA Life & Work Connections, which includes Employee Assistance Counseling, Worksite Wellness, Child and Elder Care Services, and Work/Life Support. The University of Arizona also offers additional programs through Human Resources, Campus Health, the Ombuds Program, and Risk Management.”

“This award represents an impressive achievement on the part of several campus entities to work together to deliver programs that support healthy life and work environments,” stated Dr. Allison Vaillancourt, Assistant Vice President, Human Resources.

Dr. Saundra Taylor, Senior Vice President for Campus Life stated, “The University of Arizona is honored to be recognized by AzPA for promoting a psychologically healthy workplace. Our life-cycle services and campus-wide partnerships are designed to promote resiliency and well-being for our most valuable resources—our employees.
