Help when you need it
It's hard to set priorities in our fast-paced world and we often give the most important things the lowest priority—things like health, family, professional and personal satisfaction. But it will catch up with us. Fortunately, human beings are incredibly resilient. With education, resources and support, you can bounce back from most situations. UA Life & Work Connections is here to help.
In partnership with the State of Arizona, UA Life & Work Connections is dedicated to increasing resiliency, and to increasing workplace effectiveness and productivity in employees and the organization. We do this by identifying, designing and providing specialzed services that address the evolving work/life needs of our clients in order to enhance their contribution to the University of Arizona and the community.
Resiliency, or the ability to bounce back after stress or trauma, is a requirement in these fast-paced times. Life & Work Connections is committed to helping UA employees and their families nurture the following "stress resilient" qualities:
- Having a purpose in life
- Connecting with others
- Maintaining positive beliefs and empowerment
- Emotional expression
The components: Employee Assistance Counseling/Consultation, Child Care and Family Resources , Worksite Wellness, and Work/Life Support work together to help you find the right balance between home and work, body, mind and spirit.
One of the wonderful things about the organization of UA Life & Work Connections is that it mirrors the best things about community. Each of the units listed above operates independently, yet with the full resources of the others; additionally, all the other campus and community resources are available for referral. We can offer you help when you need it and as people and circumstances change, we can change our approach.
For example, after the physical portion of an on-site health screening, you might talk to the Employee Assistance counselor about feeling stressed; at an appointment to discuss how to handle stress, you reveal that part of your stress centers around problems with your child care; at that point, the Employee Assistance counselor refers you to Child Care and Family Resources, who then might identify a more stable and affordable child care situation.
As you can see, UA Life & Work Connections is much more than the sum of its parts. And the good news is that most of our voluntary services are free to all benefits-eligible staff and faculty. We want to encourage and support you as you make healthy decisions about your mind, your body, your family and your workplace. It's your benefit - use it!
UA Life & Work Connections is sponsored by the Department of Human Resources, in collaboration with the Arizona Department of Administration, Campus Health, and Risk Management and Safety.
