Relationships and Communication

“One person caring about another represents life’s greatest value.”

~Jim Rohn

As relationships change during the caregiving process, communicating well and understanding the needs of the person in your care is essential.   Often conflicts can arise as you are juggling responsibilities and the safety and care of another.  The person in your care may hold onto independence and control.   Clearly understanding developmental changes, physical and emotional needs, and ways to empower choices can help!  However, good communication skills does not come naturally for most of us.  At Life and Work Connections, we have staff available to listen to your specific concerns and help you devise strategies to best fit your situation.  In addition, consider practicing some of skills and ideas provided for in this section.
