The department workshops offered through Life & Work Connections are a great way to strengthen your Team’s wellness culture.

"People know the value of time," Josephine Corder, director of Life & Work Connections, said. "So, when we carve out time, that's a concrete demonstration that, as a leader, I value you, and I want to make sure you know about these resources and have the support you need."

1. Life & Work Connections (LWC) Overview
This workshop highlights the programs and benefits offered by Life & Work Connections, along with a brief description.

"We want to make sure that our employees know about the programs and benefits available to them,” said Corder. "Employees should feel empowered to utilize these resources – for themselves and their families."

2. Stress Management: Making it Work for You
The term "stress management" is something we all hear frequently, but not many of us understand how to personalize it to our own lives. This presentation aims to provide ways to turn stress management from a generic concept into a personalized set of tools and strategies that can cater to everyone’s needs.

3. Rethinking How We View Self-Care
What if we could incorporate self-care activities into our daily routine without feeling overwhelmed? Instead of viewing it as another task to complete, how can we transform it into something that adds value to our lives? This presentation aims to dispel misconceptions about self-care and explore ways to successfully integrate it into our daily lives.

4.  Power of Play
It's commonly believed that work and play don't go together. But that's not entirely true! Incorporating creative play into the workplace can bring about a myriad of benefits, such as revitalizing creativity, fostering trust among team members, and instilling a renewed sense of purpose. Join our workshop to learn how to incorporate intentional play breaks into your workday.

5. Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Training
The QPR Institute states, “People trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.
In partnership with Campus Health Services, Life & Work Connections facilitates Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Trainings for University of Arizona faculty and staff throughout the year, digitally and in person. Arizona employees can participate in sessions open to anyone or set up training sessions for their groups.

“Cindy and Chad did a really good job presenting this training and providing "real-life" examples of using this information hands-on. I love the authenticity of Chad’s experience and sharing that."

By participating in one of these pieces of training, you can become a QPR gatekeeper.  Gatekeepers can be anyone but include advisors, caregivers, friends, parents, friends, teachers, and many others who are strategically positioned to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide.

Body Composition Reviews
Maintaining good health is important for all of us, but everyone's journey towards this goal can differ. However, there's no need to go it alone! You can book a Body Composition session for your team to:

  • Encourage your colleagues to approach their health proactively. During a Body Composition session, participants will establish or monitor four important numbers to understand their current health and predict their future health. By doing so, they can take preventive measures, and those with a family history of health issues can take steps to mitigate the risk.
  • Promote a culture of valuing and prioritizing the health and well-being of colleagues at work.
  • Provide your team with valuable health information: % body fat mass, % body water and Basal metabolic rate - the calories needed to maintain life-sustaining functions.
