What Counts as Movement?

Everything that gets you moving counts!

Walking to your car or around campus • Dancing in your living room • Yoga or stretching • Biking with family • Hiking local trails • SwimmingGardeningPlaying with kids or pets • Even scrubbing a bathtub or vacuuming

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends 150 to 300 minutes of moderate physical activity each week for adults. Activities like brisk walking or any movement that gets your heart rate up qualify.

You're already doing this. Move Arizona just helps you be more intentional about it—and do it together.

Why It Matters

The Research Is Clear

Regular physical activity significantly reduces your risk of chronic health conditions, including depression, diabetes, heart disease, and certain cancers. It also improves sleep quality, boosts energy levels, and enhances mental clarity.

But here's what really makes Move Arizona work: community. When you're part of a team, you're more likely to stick with it. Your teammates celebrate your wins, keep you accountable on tough days, and make movement more fun.

This isn't about perfection. It's about progress. It's about showing up for yourself and your colleagues, one week at a time.
