At the University of Arizona, the impact of Wellness Ambassadors is evident in the vibrant culture that promotes health, community, and creativity across the campus. Through their dedicated efforts, these ambassadors foster a spirit of wellness that resonates throughout the university, enhancing engagement and improving workplace culture, even among remote colleagues.

One standout Wellness Ambassador is Griffin Queen from the Enrollment Management Systems & Communication (EMSC) team. Griffin has embraced his role, implementing initiatives promoting wellness and strengthening colleagues' bonds. By regularly sharing articles and resources on topics such as mindfulness and work-life balance in a dedicated Teams channel, he encourages his peers to prioritize their well-being. His commitment to team engagement also shines through creative traditions, such as lighthearted birthday messages and the popular digital drawing challenge, Inktober.

Inktober has proven successful, with Griffin setting up a collaborative Miro board where team members could showcase their artistic talents by creating daily drawings based on themed prompts. This month’s long activity engaged 20 participants and was praised for fostering creativity and collaboration.

“The whole team engaged with the activity, and we now have a beautiful board showcasing our artistic skills,” Griffin shared.

The excitement continued as the team chose a winning drawing, which Griffin proudly tattooed on his arm to symbolize their shared creativity and camaraderie. Moreover, he mentioned exciting plans for an upcoming holiday event, including a white elephant gift exchange to enhance team cohesion and mentorship. Griffin's commitment to promoting a culture of well-being is evident in his strategies for maintaining a positive team dynamic. He frequently organizes activities like Friday GIFs and maintains a Wellness channel, making team members more comfortable reaching out for help and initiating conversations.

His director, Ryan Moore, emphasized fostering a collaborative environment and praised Griffin’s commitment as a Wellness Ambassador.

“Griffin's extraordinary contributions promote health and well-being throughout our team,” he stated, acknowledging how Griffin’s initiatives have created a supportive atmosphere where team members feel comfortable seeking help and engaging in discussions about wellness.

These initiatives reflect a commitment to fostering a holistic culture of well-being at the University of Arizona. Whether through creative challenges or engaging events, each initiative contributes to a growing sense of belonging and positivity, encouraging everyone to embrace wellness in their own unique ways.
