If I told you that you could earn a bonus from the State of Arizona each year by doing activities that you probably are already doing, would you believe me? It's true; you can earn up to a $200 incentive from the State of Arizona for participating in the Health Impact Program (HIP). HIP is an award-winning well-being program designed to help you make small, everyday changes to experience better health. All benefits-eligible employees can participate in the HIP program.

If you aren’t part of the over 1,600 University of Arizona employees already earning points and monetary incentives from HIP you might be wondering, “How do I earn this incentive bonus”? The answer may surprise you because you are probably already doing many things eligible for points. To earn the up to $200 incentive, you need to earn 50,000 points. 50,000 points might sound like a lot, but once you dive in, you’ll see how quickly those points add up. Do you get your annual physical from your primary care physician each year? If you do, you just earned yourself 5,000 points. You can also earn points by tracking physical activity, practicing mindfulness, being nicotine-free, and much more.

Now, if you have looked at your weather app recently, you know that summer is about to hit us full force across the country. “Sun’s out, guns out” might not be the best approach when we are consistently hitting triple digits but want to still focus on our health. Here in the desert, it is extremely important to stay safe during the heat of the summer. With that said, you still can focus on your health in many ways on the Personify Health platform.

Challenges

Do you like a little competition in your day? These challenges are a great way to push yourself or push towards something as a group. During these hot summer months, consider setting up a water drinking challenge for yourself or your work group. This daily reminder may help you create or maintain this important habit of staying hydrated in the desert.

RethinkCare

Does the summer heat make you want to relax and wind down a little? The RethinkCare content may be for you. Take some time to watch and participate in meditation or mindfulness sessions, short yoga routines, or how to cultivate healthy thoughts and self-awareness. Adding these to your daily routine can boost energy and remind us to live in the moment, even if it is a really hot one.

Journeys

Taking a 10-day journey in the heat of the summer may not be the best idea. A 10-day digital journey might work better for you. Journeys on the HIP platform provide you with daily information and practical applications over a roughly 10-day period. Your journey can focus on sleeping well, eating healthy, managing stress, or even acting sustainably, just to name a few.

These are just a few ways to focus on your health while staying cool this summer in the desert heat. Still have questions about HIP? Request a HIP Overview session for your department to learn more about the program and how to earn points toward an incentive payout while focusing on your health.
