August means back to school here at the University of Arizona, but did you know that it is also the month to think about and act upon routine immunizations? National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM) is an annual observance held in August to highlight the importance of vaccination for people of all ages. Together, we can help raise awareness about the importance of vaccination and encourage people to talk to a healthcare provider they trust about staying up to date on their vaccinations.1

From brushing teeth to eating healthy food to getting routine vaccines, there are things we do to protect ourselves throughout our lives. Low immunization rates put everyone at risk for vaccine-preventable diseases.2 While recommendations may change by age, the need for protection does not.3 Check out this downloadable graphic and share it with your colleagues, family, and friends.

Staying up to date and knowing the facts about immunizations does not have to be tricky. Below is a list of resources to keep you updated on recommended practices for yourself or those you care about.
