Desiree Esquivel is an Academic Advisor for the School of Nutritional Sciences and Wellness. "Serving as a Wellness Ambassador reminds me to prioritize my health and well-being and encourages me to share it with my team," says Esquivel. "Attending events for Wellness Ambassadors helps me get inspired and think creatively about how I can best support the mission of the program.
In December, I hosted a pottery painting event, and it provided a space for my team to have a creative outlet and step away from the day-to-day responsibilities we adhere to. I received positive feedback from the attendees for this activity, which helped us bond. I have also shared articles to connect with the entire unit of Nutritional Sciences. The Wellness Ambassadors program affirms the importance of taking time to engage in activities that support our overall health."
Jessica Zepda,RDN, Graduate Services Advisor, AZ Online (DPD certificate students) | School of Nutritional Sciences and Wellness, shared her positive experience with Esquivel's wellness activities.
"Participating in the pottery event at our SNAC Advisor retreat allowed me to take a moment to defrag from reviewing policies, procedures, and difficult student situations. It's not often that we're given a creative outlet, and being able to take some time and create something with my fellow coworkers while having conversations that weren't necessarily work-focused helped remind me of the wonderful aspects of working with my team!"
