Wellness at Work

The journey towards good health and well-being is often very personal, but that doesn’t mean you have to travel alone! Often, we need encouragement and shared experiences with others. Sharing our experiences with others helps create a culture that celebrates and inspires individuals to prioritize and contribute to their overall well-being.

The Role of Wellness Ambassador

Wellness Ambassadors advocate for their unit's wellness needs with Life & Work Connections, help share wellness services of interest to their colleagues, and invite co-workers to participate in wellness activities. In doing so, they personify each of the university's values of integrity, compassion, exploration, adaptation, inclusion, and determination.

"The activities organized by our ambassador have been so awesome. They've helped me to regularly build time in to address my own personal wellness, and I feel like they also help the college be a stronger team."

— Paige Hacker Bravo, Nurse Simulation Specialist, College of Nursing

As a wellness ambassador, I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a positive and supportive environment for my colleagues. This role goes beyond promoting physical and mental health initiatives—it's about being present, listening, and offering encouragement

Wellness Ambassador: Wesley Toliver

I’ve been at the university in the Financial Aid department for the last 6 years.  I love to find opportunities to bring the team together to have fun.  We’ve done minute-to-win-it games during a pot-luck lunch, had a Halloween costume contest that raised funds for campus pantry and had a Staff Retreat out at CALS where we were able to get outdoors in the fresh air and enjoy the nice Fall weather.

Wellness Ambassador: Corina Jo Flynn

Corina Jo Flynn has been part of Admissions Processing since June of 2017, representing APU for approximately three years. During that time, she realized that she has a passion for mental health. "I feel that mental health is such an important but misunderstood and crucial part of health in general. I have incorporated mental health as a huge part of my sharing information with the team."
