Wellness Ambassador: Wesley Toliver
I’ve been at the University in the Financial Aid department for the last 6 years. I love to find opportunities to bring the team together to have fun. We’ve done minute-to-win-it games during a pot-luck lunch, had a Halloween costume contest that raised funds for campus pantry and had a Staff Retreat out at CALS where we were able to get outdoors in the fresh air and enjoy the nice Fall weather.

Corina Jo Flynn has been part of Admissions Processing since June of 2017, representing APU for approximately three years. During that time, she realized that she has a passion for mental health. "I feel that mental health is such an important but misunderstood and crucial part of health in general. I have incorporated mental health as a huge part of my sharing information with the team."

Jennifer is the Project Manager at Medical Imaging in the College of Medicine, Tucson. "In my role as Wellness Ambassador, I have been excited to conceptualize and promote activities aimed at encouraging wellness at work" says Jennifer. "I am a great believer in the power of movement and the positive effects it has on both physical and mental wellbeing."

My main motivation for wellness stems from one of my core values in life which is to find, create, and spread joy through fun. People don't play enough anymore, and my position as a Wellness Ambassador became the perfect opportunity to foster this piece of wellness in my department.

I’ve always been active and know the importance of staying healthy and maintaining a stress-free lifestyle. Wellness includes many areas, such as personal relationships, networking with coworkers, financial independence, and daily exercise, just to name a few. I try to create activities that will help us meet some of these important factors.

Desiree Esquivel is an Academic Advisor for the School of Nutritional Sciences and Wellness. "Serving as a Wellness Ambassador reminds me to prioritize my health and well-being and encourages me to share it with my team," says Esquivel. "Attending events for Wellness Ambassadors helps me get inspired and think creatively about how I can best support the mission of the program."

Dealing with her health challenges, Kelly Price was looking for a way to make better lifestyle choices consistently. So, she volunteered as a Wellness Ambassador, seeing it as an opportunity to focus on her own health, and as a way to encourage fellow employees to focus on theirs.

Arlette is the Wellness Ambassador for the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. She writes, "I became a wellness ambassador for the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences in 2020 with hopes of highlighting the other parts of our working selves and sharing resources that could make a difference in people’s lives."
